Looking for something else I came upon this site - which has a couple of lines of information and one beautiful picture of the town I grew up in!
Moreni, Dambovita - ROMANIA
A town that's over 400 years old (we have records from over 400 years ago, the settlement is most likely *much* older than that!).
A town that's the first one in the country (and the third in the world) where they extracted natural gas - over 300 years ago! For over 300 years we managed the natural resources (and we had all sorts of help from England, Germany and unfortunately from Russia too).
Those are the forests I spent all my childhood in: spring, summer, and fall - sometimes even in the winter, sleighing down the hills!
Where did you grow up?!
Enjoy :)
Oh WOW that is so, so beautiful! such a lush forest.
ReplyDeleteI grew up at the very top NW corner of Oregon, along the Columbia River where it meets the Pacific Ocean. The town is Astoria (named after John Jacob Astor). It is the first settlement west of the Mississippi ... and is the end of the Lewis & Clark trail. It's where they stopped once they saw the ocean.
